Summary
Ian is a chartered quantity surveyor with 40 years of experience in the construction industry, including periods in private practice, local authority and as a director of a construction company.
For the past 15 years Ian's predominant involvement has been in specialist consultancy where he has developed a particular capacity for dealing with disputes on complex major projects. This has resulted in appointments for him to provide expert witness opinion and expert assistance in the defence or prosecution of claims and on other technical matters. He has also provided internal case management requiring the co-ordination of service delivery in relation to multi-expertise appointments. He is an independently accredited expert and is regularly appointed as quantum expert in intricate, multi-faceted construction and civil engineering related disputes.
Ian's experience in dispute resolution work has entailed involvement in major arbitration, litigation, mediation and adjudication proceedings and other alternative disputes resolution processes and he has given testimony and been examined before tribunals in both the UK and overseas.
The breadth of Ian's experience encompasses most types of construction, including major rail, water and road infrastructure along with some diverse and unusual projects such as the evaluation of changes on a 87 metre luxury motor yacht, the review and audit of revenue for a civil engineering infrastructure project with a total contract value of $HK2.00 billion and audit of private and public enterprises both in the UK and overseas with turnovers up to over €600 million.
